Surgery Center of Allentown is a freestanding ambulatory surgery center. We are committed to safe, high-quality, patient-centered care delivered by a highly engaged team.
Our board-certified physicians have expertise in several different fields. Our orthopedic surgeons specialize in sports medicine, podiatry, hand, wrist and arm surgeries and more. We have a team of ophthalmologists who perform various procedures, including cataract surgery. Our otolaryngologists specialize in ear, nose and throat procedures, and we also have pain management physicians.
We believe in compassionate medicine, where patients feel reassured and unrushed. We hold ourselves to the highest of standards, as our center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Patient satisfaction is our primary goal.

Our Mission
The Surgery Center of Allentown strives to provide high quality, cost effective, outpatient elective surgical care to the people of the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding areas. In addition, we strive to provide an independent, pleasant and convenient workplace for physicians, and to continuously study and improve the processes of providing surgical health care services through a top level commitment to quality.

Cindy Moyer, CASC, Administrator
Joining the Ambulatory Surgery Center in 2017, Moyer brings over 11 years of administrative management experience in the ASC care setting. Moyer is certified with Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) and currently sits on the Physician Advisory Board of the Pennsylvania Ambulatory Surgery Association. Moyer’s goal for the center is to provide the patients at Surgery Center of Allentown with the highest quality of care in a comfortable, convenient environment and at the end of the day, patient satisfaction is her top priority.
Kristine A. Sodl, RN, Director of Nursing
Sodl joined the Surgery Center of Allentown staff as a Pre-op and PACU Nurse in 2007, shortly after the Center opened. During her tenure, she was afforded the opportunity to cross train and subsequently, staff the operating room as a circulating nurse. Her capability to staff in all areas of the Center enhances her role as the Director of Nursing.
As a lifelong learner, Sodl actively continues her education as a student at Moravian College as well as taking part in infection control and quality projects. In addition to her role as Director of Nursing, she holds the positions of Infection Control Nurse and Safety Officer. She has 26 years of nursing experience with a majority of that time spent in the hospital setting in various areas, including critical care and perioperative care.
Jen Scholler, Business Office Manager
Joined the Surgery Center in June of 2022. Jen brings over 20 years of management experience of multi-specialty practices to her role as Business Office Manager. Her prior experience in billing, verification, authorization part of an ASC operation enable her to help the Center’s patients with any related issues to ensure that their surgical process is a pleasant one.
Brenda Allen, Materials Manager
Joined the Surgery Center of Allentown as a Radiologic Technologist in July 2013. Have 41 years of experience as a Radiographer. Transitioned to Materials Manager in January 2023.
Active foster at Logan’s Heroes Animal Rescue and serves as Coordinator for 11Bravo M.C. to raise funds and awareness for the needs of the Local Veterans. Loves to garden.
Tara Steffie-Karol, RN, BSN, Clinical Director of Pre-Op and PACU
Joining the Center in 2012, Steffie-Karol brings with her 10 years of experience as a perioperative nurse. The majority of her experience is in post-anesthesia recovery and preoperative care in the hospital setting. With these skills, Steffie-Karol is capable of staffing in the preoperative and recovery room areas, as well as pain management in the operating room as needed.
Steffie-Karol is also a member of the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Committee (QAPI), which focuses on improving quality of patient care and services. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, she manages communication and patient flow between all clinical areas. In addition, she evaluates and coordinates safe patient care in accordance with current standards of practice in order to assure optimal patient outcomes.
